Need more seasonal traffic? Here’s how…

While your SEO efforts happen all year long, there are some unique strategies that can help you boost your SEO and drive more traffic during those crucial seasonal times and holidays. Some latest research finds that more than half of all shoppers are heading out to a search engine to find what they need for the holidays. While your SEO may be optimized for your normal operations, you need to optimize it for those seasonal and holiday shoppers or risk losing out on some of the most lucrative business of the entire year.

  • The first thing to do is to put together a new list of keywords and long tail LSI phrases. They must, of course, be related to the seasonal event or the specific holidays. There are several tools, such as Google Trends, that will help you identify those words and phrases. Such data sites will allow you to see the most popularly searched for words and phases relating to the particular seasonal event or holiday. Know the inventory you intend to sell and use such introductory words and phrases as “Black Friday deals” or “Cyber Monday specials with free shipping”.

  • Next begin to tailor your written and video content. Start issuing holiday themed blog posts and commercial videos. If your products can help solve a holiday problem or allow people to get more enjoyment out of the seasonal rush, use videos and pictorials to display how your products and brand are uniquely placed to do all of that for them. It will also be helpful if you targeted specific demographics like busy moms and dads or singles looking to make the holidays special where they are.
  • Then come your landing pages. They must be specific to the product or service you are selling. Having them click and end up at your home page will spell disaster. Make it easy for them. The more steps they need to take to get to the product or service you are selling, the less likely they will go through all of those steps. Make sure they end up at a landing page specifically designed to sell that particular product or service. Finally, you can create a holiday gift guide of everything you are looking to sell. This way, everything seasonal and holiday themed will be right there in front of them.
